What it is and how it works
Instead of rolling paste over the tips with a cone, you apply the dip thickly to the last segment of each finger and the nail (or dip the tips straight in), let it develop, and scrape it off. It's formulated to show colour fast — visible within an hour or two — so it suits people who want the look without the wait.
The trade-off is the same as any instant product: it finishes a lighter brown-red than natural henna and fades sooner on the skin.
How to use it
- Clean, oil-free fingertips — no lotion or cuticle oil.
- Apply the dip thickly over the tip and nail, or dip the fingertips in and coat evenly.
- Leave it on as long as the instructions allow — longer is darker.
- Keep your hands warm.
- Scrape it off dry, then avoid water for a few hours and dab on aftercare oil.
- Expect orange first, deepening over 24–48 hours (the colour timeline).
How long it lasts
- Skin (fingertip segment): about a week, fading as skin exfoliates.
- Nails: longer — henna stains the nail plate itself, which doesn't exfoliate, so it grows out over a few weeks or you trim it. More on this in henna for nails.

Fingertip styles
Even a solid dip can be varied:
- Full tips — the whole last segment and nail stained solid; classic.
- Half-dip — just the nail and a scalloped line below it.

- Alternating — dip index, middle and little finger; leave the ring finger bare.
Getting an even result
- Coat every finger the same thickness — thin patches stain lighter.
- Keep the line where the stain ends neat; wipe stray dip off with a cotton bud before it dries.
- Leave it on as long as you can and keep hands warm.
- Scrape off dry, then oil and avoid water for a few hours.
A note on nails

Safety
A natural instant dip with a listed ingredient list is fine for most people. Never use anything sold as "black" or promising a jet-black stain in an hour — that's a PPD product and unsafe (why). Patch test a new product 48 hours ahead if you have sensitive skin (how).

What is instant henna dip?
A henna preparation you dip your fingertips into (or apply thickly to the tips and nails) for a fast, solid stained-tip look without piping a design. The colour develops quicker than natural henna but is lighter and shorter-lived.
How long does an instant henna dip last?
